About this portal

The core component of the online portal “Research Integrity” is the commentary on the so-called Level 3 of the Code of Conduct “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice”.

The preamble, the guidelines themselves (Level 1), the explanations (Level 2) and the variants in the implementation of the Code are set out in (subject-specific) detail in this online portal (Level 3) under the tab “Code”.

The aim is to continuously develop the content of Level 3 in collaboration with HEIs and non-HEI research institutions, the member organisations of the Alliance of Science Organisations in Germany, the German Research Ombudsman and other stakeholders in academia so as to be able to adapt it to changes in research practice.

The DFG, as the initiator of this process, secures quality assurance of all content. As a dynamically growing body of content, the portal aims to provide a reference tool on the topic of good research practice for the German research landscape; your contributions to the portal are most welcome.

You can contribute by providing input to the following categories:

  • comments on the guidelines and explanations, either of a general nature or relating to a specific field of research
  • practical examples
  • references to legislation
  • frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • link list (references to external sources)

We look forward to receiving your feedback.

The tab “RI by the DFG” (Safeguarding of Research Integrity by the DFG) also contains information on the levels at which the DFG ensures research integrity where it has responsibility and regulatory control.

Finally, the “News” tab contains details of current topics and events.
